POSITION: Performance Music Technical Assistant

JOB PURPOSE: Work Study student will be responsible for weekly setup of large ensemble rehearsals, which will take place Tuesdays from 5-7 pm and Wednesdays from 5-7 pm. Student will also assist with other administrative duties the department requires, upon request. Occasional performance day assistance is also required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Students may not work more than 10 hours per week
• Once a schedule has been agreed upon, it is the responsibility of the student employee to:
o Arrive at work on time, ready to perform position-related activities.
o Notify supervisor in a timely manner if the he or she is unable to arrive at work on time.
o Be considerate and reliable. Student workers represent 51¶¯Âþ College and must maintain the same standards expected of all faculty and staff.
o Dress appropriately. In positions requiring regular contact with the public, attire conveys a degree of professionalism.
o Perform work to the best of her/his ability and act in the best interests of the College.
o Refrain from all personal activities, such as reading, phone calls, social networking, or class work or club activities during hours of employment; and refrain from using office equipment for personal reasons.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Student will learn how to set up ensembles for rehearsals. This involves setting up chairs in a specified diagram, music stands, percussion instruments, and microphones and other amplified sound equipment.
2. None of this apparatus is very heavy, but care must be taken to ensure that instruments and equipment are cared for.
3. Student will assist with clerical work upon request, such as making photocopies of sheet music.
4. Performance-day duties include assistance with concert set up, decorating the hall, etc.
